Local TV station, Baba TV has come out guns blazing to distance itself from the rumor that it might be bought by the president of Uganda National Musicians Federation, Edirisa Musuza commonly known as Eddy Kenzo.
The rumor was first shared by the water mouthed K FM presenter as well as YouTuber Isaac Katende alias Kasuku.
The entertainment gossip rumour monger Kasuku revealed that days after receiving over a billion shillings from the government, Eddy Kenzo aka Musuuza is in plans of buying a television channel they can use to play songs even those for upcoming singers.
According to Kasuku, its said that Kenzo first approached NYCE TV directors with an offer of over a billion shillings to buy off the struggling tv station, however they objected saying they have no plans of selling it off.
Kasuku went ahead to reveal that Eddy Kenzo decided to approach BabaTv owners with the same offer however sources say they also refused saying they could only give him shares or make agreements to play local music at a payable fee.
Now concerned about the allegations that have been spreading like wildfire, Baba TV has taken to its social media pages and described the rumor as fake.
The TV station which is based in Jinja though with a branch in Ntinda Kampala said that Busoga Kingdom owns the station. They, therefore, have no tie to the Stamina singer nor do they have any intentions to sell.
“Attention all! Rumors swirling about Eddy Kenzo buying Baba TV Uganda are FALSE! Let’s set the record straight: Baba TV is a kingdom-owned TV, and we have NO ties with Kenzo or any intention to sell. Spread the word and stay tuned for authentic updates,” Baba tv posted on its facebook page on Wednesday evening, April 3.
Well, it’s not clear where Kasuku got this information from as even singer Eddy Kenzo has not yet come out say anything about his intentions of buying the stated tv stations.
And in case he does, you will be kept updated. One thing that is clear however is that the Federation recently received billions of shillings from the government.
Meanwhile, all this is happening a few weeks after reports coming out claiming that Baba TV has taken nearly a year without paying its employees.
The management however didn't release any statement refuting or accepting the allegations and as well this publication can't independently affirm the allegations.
