President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni bid farewell to the outgoing Ambassador of the Netherlands to Uganda, H.E Karin Boven, after four years of service,
H.E Boven reflected on her impactful tenure and highlighted the strong cooperation between the Netherlands and Uganda, particularly in the agricultural sector.
During the farewell event, President Museveni commended Ambassador Boven for her exceptional service and contributions to Uganda’s development.
"Your distinctive service has greatly benefitted our nation, and we wish you well in your future endeavors," Museveni remarked.
He also provided the Ambassador with an overview of Uganda’s political history, emphasizing the transformation from a failed state to a stable and developing nation under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government.
"Our correct ideology has brought peace and security, fostering progressive development," Museveni added.
Ambassador Boven expressed her gratitude for the warm hospitality and rich experiences she encountered during her tenure.
"I have met a lot of people including partners of our programs, refugees and host communities, female entrepreneurs, and farmers. The Netherlands has big programs in agriculture and agro-business, and I’m sure you have heard about the best farmers competition in Uganda supported by the Netherlands," she stated.
Her words highlighted the deep-rooted agricultural collaboration that has flourished between the two nations.
The Ambassador underscored the Netherlands' commitment to continue supporting Uganda’s agricultural sector, which has been a cornerstone of their bilateral relations.
"Uganda hosts a big number of Dutch entrepreneurs who are into agro-business and tourism. They are very adventurous and are looking for innovative ways of promoting business in Uganda," Boven noted.
She expressed pride in the Dutch initiatives and investments that have spurred significant development in Uganda.
The best farmers competition, a notable Dutch-supported initiative, has been instrumental in recognizing and promoting agricultural excellence in Uganda.
This competition has not only enhanced agricultural practices but also fostered a spirit of innovation among Ugandan farmers.
