The election period is drawing near and there are quite a number of happenings on the political scene, many which have left Netizens jaw dropped.
JB Nambeshe, who is known to be a prominent political figure from the National Unity Platform (NUP), has openly declared that he is soon dumping the National Unity Platform camp and is on his way back to the National Resistance Movement (NRM), which he had abandoned before!
Nambeshe, who happens to be the former opposition chief whip and NUP Deputy President for the eastern region has confirmed that he is currently in talks with a few key NRM figures about his return to the party and he is to be welcomed back with arms open wide.
While speaking to his supporters during a recent event in Manjiya County, Nambeshe revealed that he had been feeling alienated in NUP for a while now. According to him, he was never fully accepted by many people in the party and even the big positions they gave him. For instance the Deputy President of the Eastern Region did little to make him feel secure.
“I have always felt like an outsider in NUP. I was never fully integrated into the party, and that made it difficult for me to give my best. Is till felt like an outsider." he stated
Nambeshe highlighted that this decision to leave NUP comes after a series of frustrations for him. He stated that his political influence was marginalized and everyone made it seem like he was making it through due to the Kyagulanyi influence on voters. He further mentioned that many claimed he was elected to represent Bududa in Parliament in 2021 thanks to the Kyagulanyi influence , but yet all this success was made possible due to his personal political influence in the region.
“In Bududa, people know me and trust my leadership. It was never about NUP. Many people claimed I used the party to get there and I needed the party more than anything. This is not the case.. the party needs me more than I need it,” he boldly stated
Nambeshe, on a side note also expressed his disappointment over his failure to secure the position of Leader of Opposition (LoP), a role he felt he deserved. According to Nambeshe therefore, the NRM party is the only way forward for his constituency.
“Without NRM, we won’t see the kind of development we need in Manjiya County,” he said.
