Etania, just like Zahara Toto is one of the top female deejays, media personalities as well as hype girls we have in the Ugandan Entertainment Industry. Considering that Zahara has been in the industry longer than Etania, one would think she is meant to act as a mentor to her but yet it is quite the opposite.
Etania and Zahara Toto have never been on good terms and this is not just on the show that they co host together, The Kampala Creme but even when the curtains close, the two simply do not get along with each other and many people have always wondered why. Well, when they were at the premiere of the second season of Favia Tumusiime's show called ‘Home of our stars', Etania was quick to mention a possible reason for the hostility they have against each other.
The pair were quick to confirm that they do not see eye to eye, both on and off camera of the show they co host together. We have always seen that they always throw jabs at each other, poke each other and are always hostile with each other during the Kampala Creme show. Well, it turns out that even when the curtains close, their hatred for each other simply continues.
According to Etania, since they met with Zahara on the Kampala Creme set, they have failed to make a connection because she senses bad energy from Zahara and she would rather avoid such negativity, after all, it is not a rule that everyone working in the same industry should be friends!
“I try to keep my distance. I stay in my space, which in our entrainment industry simply means avoiding someone. The truth is, it is not written anywhere that people are supposed to be friends just because they work together,” she said.
When it came to Zahara Toto, she said the feeling she gets about Etania is exactly the same , and that she too dislikes Etania because she exudes bad energy even when she doesn’t realize it.
While trying to figure out the source of the bad blood between her and Zahara, Etania stated that it could have been the kind of treatment she received from Zahara when she was new to the entertainment industry. Remember that Etania broke into stardom around the COVID-19 lockdown, on the NTV Mix Party.
According to Etania, people like Zahara who were already established in the entertainment industry did not give her the welcome she had hoped for but rather showed her hostility, maybe because they saw a lot of competition in her.
“In this industry, there are what we call the generals. Those who feel like they run the industry. When a young person is coming up, the energy they give you is just terrible. If you are an upcoming emcee or TV person or designer, if you are in the same I dusty as they are, there is always that sense of competition.” Said Etania
