    FINALLY! Court grants MPs Allan Sewanyana and Muhammad Segirinya Bail!

    Monday afternoon, February 13, 2023 will forever be remembered in history by the families and Constituents of legislators Muhammad Ssegirinya and Allan Ssegirinya.

    The MPs of Kawempe North and Makindye West respectively have been granted a Cash Bail of 20 millions each by the High court in Masaka after spending over 2 years in prison on accusations of murder ,attempted murder, aiding terrorism among many others..

    The two legislators have been in jail since September 2021 following accusations of being behind the killings in the Greater Masaka.

    The mother of Muhammad Ssegirinya, reacted with joy shortly after Court granted her son and his counterpart bail.

    Prior to the above development, the State attorney in the murder case in which these MPs are accused of killing one Joseph Bwanika, a resident of Kankamba village, Kisekka B village, Lwengo district  withdrew three affidavits of prosecution witnesses.

    The state attorney, Richard Birivumbuka said the affidavits withdrawn were sworn by Thomas Jatiko, Jennifer Amumpaire and Detective SP Innocent Mubangizi, tendered in on January 23, 2023.

    Birivumbuka told court that the DPP directed prosecution not to object to their bail application. The DPP said prosecution should simply make their submissions on bail terms. The bail application hearing is underway at Masaka high court before Justice Lawrence Tweyanze.
