After quite a time of contemplation, President Museveni has finally signed the controversial Computer Misuse (Amendment) Bill into law.
The Genesis of this Law draws back to July this year when Kampala Central Member of Parliament Hon. Muhammad Nsereko proposed an amendment to its 2011 act. In his proposal, Nsereko urgued that the act didn't take into consideration sharing information across social media platforms!
In September, Parliament passed this bill part of its objectives is to enhance the provisions on unauthorized access to information or data, to prohibit the sharing of any information relating to a child without authorization from a parent or guardian among others!
According to Presidential Press Unit (PPU) that made announcement in regards to the matter, President Museveni signed three more bills into Law.
These include, The Physical Planners Registration Act 2022, The Kampala Capital City (Amendment) Act 2022 and The mining and Minerals Act 2022.
