Former Ethics and Intergrity Minister Fr. Simon Lokodo is dead. Lokodo passed on on Saturday morning in Geneva, Switzerland.
At the time of his passing, Lokodo worked as a memeber of the Uganda Human Rights Commission and through its twitter platform, the commission announced his sudden death “Its with great shock and pain that we’ve learnt of the passing of our Honourable Member of the Commission, Fr Simon Lokodo. He passed on this morning in Geneva Switzerland. The commission will share details in due course” the tweet post read.
Born on October 28th, 1957 in kaabong District, Lokodo joined active politics in 2006 at the age of 46. It was during a by-election that was held on June 29, 2006 following the death of then area MP of Dodoth County that saw him become MP. By the time he ventured into active politics, Fr Lokodo was serving as Parish priest for Kaabong Parish ad according to the Roman catholic religion guidelines, Priests are not supposed to participate in active politics. When he took on the decision to stand for a political position, Lokodo was excommunicated from the catholic church and exempted off his priestly duties.
In the past years, Lokodo served in varipus ministerial positions such as Minister of State for Ethics and Intergrity in the office of the President, Minister of State for Industry. May his soul rest in peace
