Fred Mugerwa finally renews his contract as She Cranes Netball team head coach
    • September 21, 2023 • 1 year ago

Earlier today at the offices of the Uganda Netball Federation (UNF) in Mengo, the She Cranes head coach Fred Mugerwa Tabale renewed his contract for another two years.

Having guided the Uganda Netball Team (She Cranes) to great wins and seeing them finish 5th in the 2023 Netball World Cup in South Africa, Mugerwa had sworn not to renew his contract, because of poor payment terms in his previous contract.

His announcement raised many concerns among many Ugandan Sports fanatics, many of whom called out the federation and the entire ministry of Sports for always making it a point to frustrate Uganda's athletes but are ever quick to pose for pictures with them after winning accolades.

“I am happy to extend my contract for another two years. My first spell was a good tenure where we reached the highest ever level as a team.” said coach Mugerwa after putting pen to paper at UNF offices in Mengo.

In her remarks, UNF president Sarah Babirye Kityo expressed her utmost gratitude towards the many wins coach Mugerwa and the netball team achieved for the country. "We thank the head coach of She Cranes Fred Mugerwa for the work well done so far. He has also guided and elevated so many players. This is the reason we are extending the contract”  Mrs. Kityo stated.

Coach Mugerwa's new contract will expire in 2025 and his first task is the upcoming 2023 Africa championship tournament. He is expected to announce his back-room stuff in the following days.
