La Liga president Javier Tebas has advised Mason Greenwood to leave Manchester United and remain in Spain in addition another season.
Greenwood moved to Spain to join Getafe last summer after charges of rape and assault against him were cleared. In addition to that, he was expected to leave Manchester United indefinitely this summer but a new partaker Sir Jim Ratcliffe sustained the situation he validated that he will decide Greenwood's move as he in control of football operations at Old Trafford.
Getafe president Angel Torres previously clarified Greenwood is "crazy" about the idea of staying with the club, while Barcelona have been touted as potential suitors if the 22-year-old is made available this summer.
The La Liga President Javier Tebas is eager to propose a deal with Greenwood as he assured that the English forward is beneficial to the division because Mason has five goals and five assists in twenty-two matches for La Liga this campaign.
"I'm a lawyer. For someone that has come out of a legal case innocent, there's nothing to say," he said at the Financial Times business of football summit.
"I think it's good because he's another great player. Maybe the circumstances have made it easier for him to come, but he's a great player and I have got no other comments to make.
"He's doing really well at Getafe as a player and I hope he continues to be successful and continues to stay in Spanish football, because that's always good for us. When someone isn't condemned, what should we have done? This is what courts exist for. It is not up to me to know his case in detail. He is just another player."
Tebas also showed unwillingness to be drawn on La Liga's investigation into Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham, who is accused of calling the Manchester United loanee a 'rapist' during the meeting between the two sides last month.
"La Liga investigated Bellingham and let's see what happens," he said. "It is not the first time we have done a lip-reading investigation and maybe he didn't say what we think."
There’s also considerable interest in the player’s services, with Barcelona is reportedly keeping him under close watch. However, Greenwood wants to return to Old Trafford and win over fans with his football.
Greenwood is expected to command a fee of more than €30 million if he is sold, meaning they may choose to cash in and completely end his association with the club, with the player himself said to be uninterested at returning to Old Trafford.
