State Minister for Planning Amos Lugoloobi has been remanded to Luzira Prison, after pleading not guilty to charges against him before Anti-corruption Court in Kampala.
His bail application hearing will be on 20th April 2023 at Midday. The development comes following his arrest over Karamoja iron sheets scandal last Friday.
He was allegedly heading to the Airport when security operatives intercepted him and took him to Kira Division Police Station - which was his home until Monday afternoon when he was arraigned in court.
Presiding over the Court, Acting Principal Senior Grade One Magistrate Ebert Asiimwe charged Lugoloobi with two counts of dealing with suspect property contrary to Sections 21A and 10(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act .
His quest for a bail was watered down after the magistrate said he needed more time to pursue though the documents his lawyer's had submitted to court.
Lugoloobi, also legislator for Ntenjeru North County reportedly received 600 iron sheets meant for the vulnerable people in the Karamoja Sub-Region.
He is the second Minister to be arrested over the mismanagement of Iron sheets after Dr. Mary Goretti Kitutu, one at the centre of the Iron sheets scandal that was released on Bail last Friday after spending a week in Luzira!
With the above developments, the public only hopes that more ministers in the entire saga are yet to be arrested following the Presidential directive on the matter!
The big question however is, will the Vice President, Prime Minister and Speaker of Parliament all cited in the scandle get uprehended?
