King Michael urges UNMF to give the expected money to upcoming musicians.

    in summary
According to King Michael, upcoming artists need this money more than the already established musicians.

Upcoming musicians actually need a head start, even more than the already established musicians. There are many artistes out there that are incredibly talented but are limited by financial restraints and this is the major reason why they have not made their break through into the music industry.

Well, last year the government announced its commitment to supporting the music/creative industry with a wholesome fund of 13 billion Ugandan Shillings.  According to the UNMF leader Eddy Kenzo, some of this money was to be sent to the Uganda Musicians Association, which is led by musician Cindy Sanyu in order to help out musicians under her Association as they are also musicians in the Ugandan Industry.

Well, the first bunch of 5 billion according to State Minister for Micro Finance Hon. Haruna Kasolo has been sent to capitalize the Uganda National Musicians Federation Sacco. A section of musicians are excited for the money but yet another section of musicians still believes that there is a group of musicians that actually needs this money more than they do.

One of these musicians is King Michael. King Michael has come out about this issue and he is now urging the UNMF to direct financial support towards upcoming musicians nationwide. In his own view, he suggests that the allocated funds should be provided as loans to upcoming musicians, rather than established artists who may already possess their own wealth.

During an interview with a local television station, King Michael stated his point saying that in his own view, there are talented musicians that are still struggling, even to release a song and this is majorly because they have failed to afford recording fees. He stated that it would be better to lend them a helping hand so that they can also reach the level of the already established musicians.

“I appeal to whoever has that money to give it to the upcoming singers because they need it more than us, the established ones. They need that money to build their careers so they can reach our level.” He stated.

King Michael believes that in order for the music industry to have a balance and for it to grow into the industry everyone desires to see, upcoming musicians need to be valued and also included in the development plan. Michael believes that they need this money more than anyone else and if given aid, the industry would also benefit from their development.

Michael believes that this would be better than splashing this money on people that are already established as they do not need it anyway.
