Kira municipality Member of Parliament and Forum for Democratic Change spokesperson Hon. Ssemujju Ibrahim Nganda yesterday expressed his disgruntledness towards government over the custom of buying cars for MPs, an act he called misusing of government funds.
According to Hon. Ssemujju, instead of MPs getting cars freely, they should instead buy them with their salary. "Each Member of parliament is paid. If these MPs want cars, they should get money from the government, buy a car of their choice and then the money is deducted off their salaries. If one MP wants a Spacio, they should get money worth a Spacio and if one wants an ML, they get the money equivalent." said Ssemujju.
This comes at a time when the issue of Sh.200m given to MPs has raised eyebrows among Ugandans. We gave you a story about what NUP MPs are planning to do with the money. It seems this debate is not ending anytime soon.
