Yesterday, Mityana Municipality member of parliament, Hon. Francis Zzaake Butebi appeared before the Parliamentary disciplinary committee with his lawyers over the case filed against him. Zzaake is accused of misusing the internet and abusing the deputy speaker, Hon. Anita Among on his Twitter account.
The chairperson of the committee, Hon. Abdu Katuntu gave the lawyers of Zzaake a one day ultimatum to present their sid eof the story. In his defence, the National Unity Platform (NUP) member said these allegations are baseless and aimed at tarnishing his name.
"These investigations are not aimed at finding the truth but rather to tie a rope around me, beat me up and then hang me up on a tree and claim I hang myself, all in the name of fulfilling my story." Said Hon. Zzake.
This comes when the collection of signatures in the parliament to censure Zzake after his language misuse against the deputy speaker is still gong on and unconfirmed sources say the count has now exceeded 200 signatures. If the required numebr of signatures is reached, Zzake risks being scrapped off the parliamentary commissions comittee.
