Following the cancelation of Makerere University guild elections on July 15th 2022, the students at the country's top university are going into polls today to elect their leaders.
Unlike the past times, the elections this time around are happening electronically online.
The decision was reached upon by the university council after a Uganda Christian Student, Betungura Bewatte died during the final guild rally that went violent in July!
Out of the 10 contestants in this 88th Makerere Guild elections, 7 outlined their manifestos and these include Namirembe Blessious, Alionzi Lawrence, Ibrahim Hussein, Justus Tukamushabe, Calton Muhinda, Christopher Mugisa and Honest Natumanya.
Whoever will win today's election will replace Ms Shamim Nambaasa, the outgoing Guild President.
