Last night, defending champions Manchester City left it late to qualify for this season's UEFA Champions League Round of 16, having trailed 2-0 at home to German side RB Leipzing. A brace from Leipzig's Lois Openda gave the visitors a great start heading into second half.

Second half saw Pep Guardiola's boys return with full force, and the introduction of Argentinian Julian Alvarez and new signing Jeremy Doku proved the point as the two kept knocking on the Leipzig's door. English starlet Phil Foden set up Erling Haaland in the 67th minute and later  scored to bring Man City level in the 69th minute.

The Citizens continued pressing hard and in their efforts paid off when Alvarez scored in the 87th minute, to complete the comeback and ensure the three points. Both Manchester City and RB Leipzig had already qualified for the round of 16 before this match.

City's win ensured their perfect record, having won 5straight games. Foden's brilliant performance earned the youngster player of the match award and despite the absence of main man Kevin De Bruyne who's out due to injuries, Man City still remain the team to beat in the competition and if they maintain their form, they would go ahead to defend the title, something that has been done by Real Madrid in the recent years, who went on to win it THREE consecutive times.
