Minayo, one of the Ugandan musicians that is on and off in terms of Ugandan music has come out to recommend on how Ugandans can support the music industry in this heavy lock down period.
She says, YouTube is the answer, that the Google owned platform can generate the musicians some ka money that they can use to facilitate their livelihood in this very harsh time for them.

Many musicians currently are not making any coin at all because the music industry in Uganda that is heavily dependant on events where artists perform such as concerts was brought to a standstill by the corona virus lock down.
According to Influencer Marketing Hub, a YouTube channel owner who is a musician in our case can make $3 - $5 per 1000 video views and this is not really guaranteed because different regions of the world have different kinds of adverts so you find that YouTube channel owners in Uganda might make a much lower figure due to lower advertising interest to a region like Africa compared to a region like America.

And there is also another thing, most of our local musicians do not even have the numbers, their videos don't tend to have more than 100,000 views and this can have a huge impact on their YouTube revenue that will be considered as peanuts to their usual lifestyles we know about.

Chameleone also shows off the same award
So this is why Minayo came all out to encourage Ugandan music lovers to always watch their videos on YouTube but in all this, it seems there is only one Ugandan musician that can make quite some money from the Google owned video platform and that is the one and only Eddy Kenzo who tends to have millions of people watch his videos ????.
