    Ministry of Health urges public to take booster doses as country confirms 1,093 new COVID 19 Cases.

    The country has confirmed new covid 19 Cases that total up to 1,093 cases and together with the overall cases have accumulated to 131,981 cases in Uganda. In the midst of the joy and gist of opening up the economy as communicated by the President His Excellence Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the Ministry of Health is deeply troubled by the raising numbers in the covid pandemic.

    The Minister of Health Dr. Ruth Jane Acheng  communicated that Ugandans should still adhere to the SOPs because it is evident that the pandemic is on the rise. She went ahead to encourage the public to take booster doses because the omicron variant spreads like a wildfire!

    " After evaluating the evidence, the Ministry of Health recommends booster doses for person's above 50years to further enhance their immunity. It is the responsibility of everyone to protect the window of opening the economy in 2022." Dr Acheng said.

    She went ahead to confirm that some vaccines have been approved to be mixed  in that for those who took the AstraZeneca dose, they can get Pfizer or Moderna as booster shots, for those who took Pfizer doses, they are free to get AstraZeneca as booster doses. In the same spirit, those who took Moderna can get AstraZeneca as booster shots, those who took Johnson and Johnson can get Pfizer or Moderna as booster shots and those who took Sinopharm doses are free to get Pfizer, Moderna or Sinovac as booster shots.
