The acts of NUP Leader Ssentamu Robert Kyagulanyi a.k.a Bobi Wine during the funeral rites of his comrade The late Honourable Muhammad Ssegirinya have caused a sort of a dent on his reputation considering the after math of the situation.
Taking you back briefly, while the state had organized a funeral for the late Member of Parliament and left his colleague Mathias Mpuuga in charge of organization for the said ceremony, Bobi Wine and the NUP foot soldiers had something else in mind.
They locked the body of the deseased up in the house and made a decree that he was not to be taken to the organized state funeral considering that his death was already suspicious and had left many of his colleagues unsettled.
The saddest incident however was the point where the late Ssegirinya’s mother was seen begging the NUP president Bobi Wine to allow for her son’s body to be taken to the playground so that he’s accorded a proper and peaceful burial. Her please however fell on deaf ears as the body was securely locked away.
It was a bad situation considering that even more family members of the late MP were bitter with NUP for how it caused chaos and shattered the burial arrangements for their family. For them, respecting their grieving mother was far more important than the cheap politics play that was being displayed before the grieving family.
During this commotion, a fight almost broke out between NUP foot soldiers who were headed by Sauda Madada and Ssegirinya’s older brother.
Amidst songs of praise sent towards Bobi Wine, there have also been pleas for him to repent for what he and his foot soldiers did. Kampala Central MP Hon Muhammad Nsereko is one of the few people who were not happy with the battle between the family members of the late Ssegirinya and the NUP foot soldiers.
He has therefore promised to discipline Bobi Wine and NUP foot soldiers if they even as much as dare to step foot at the last funeral rites ceremony which is locally known as Okwabya Olumbe which has been organized for the late MP Kato Lubwama and is bound to take place on the 17th January 2025. Nsereko stated that the NUP acts that were displayed at the Burial ceremony of the late Ssegirinya are unacceptable and intolerable as well.
He has vowed to teach every NUP Hooligan (as he has termed them) a lesson if they even set foot at this respectable ceremony.
