The Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) has been given 100 million once again to help the musicians crying of poverty have a source of income
This idea was initiated by the government since concerts and bars might not be open for business anytime soon due to the rise of Corona virus cases.
In a meeting/conference today organised to help artists, a financial advisor was brought on board to teach them how to use this money to their benefit
In attendance was Kabako Makanika who had a lot to say about this whole initiative.
This idea is really good and I urge all artists to come and borrow this money to start a business. This money is yours and you should fully use it. Don't borrow money to make videos or songs, borrow to do something that will return it. I plan on borrowing money to inject in my chicken business so that they lay more eggs and I will pay it back.
Kabako also added that most musicians can be farmers if they took time to study farming and invested in it.
This money is supposed to be paid back with some interest by the people who have borrowed after a given period of time.
Musicians have been warned not to use this money carelessly like buying drugs and alcohol.
It should be known that this is the third time the Association is being given money to help artists.
Some of Uganda's musicians have complained of unfairness when it comes to the money being divided
This is one of the major reasons as to why the SACCO idea was introduced.
We hope that these Musicians can use the money fruitfully and create for themselves multiple sources of income they can depend on other than singing.
