Last evening under the lights of MTN Omondi stadium, the hosts Kampala Capital City Football Club faced off against in-form NEC FC, a match the Kasasiro boys were looking forward to winning, as they hope to return to the winning ways.
Unfortunately, things didn't really move as planned, given that in the 4th minute of the game, NEC's striker Cromwell Rwothomio fired the visitors ahead. He went on to score his second of the night in the 27th minute, giving the visitors a 2-0 lead heading into the second half.
The second half didn't really yield any positives for the Kasasiro Boys, despite their continued knocking at NEC's door. The highly spirited NEC boys kept going strong and at the end of the 90mintes emerged victorious and walked away with three points.
The defeat was KCCA's 5th of the season, having previously lost to BUL FC (1-0), Maroons FC (2-1), Express FC (2-1) and Kitara FC (3-1). This leaves them at the bottom of the league with zero points, with their next outing coming up soon against 15th place Arua Hill in Paridi.
On the other hand, NEC's emphatic win sent them to third place with 12points, only three points behind joint table leaders Kitara FC and BUL FC who're at 15points each. Rwothomio's brace also earned him the Pilsner Player of The Match Award.
The match was the first one for interim coach Jackson Magera, who took over after KCCA parted ways with Portuguese Sergio Traguil on Tuesday 24th. Earlier on before the match, coach Magera had assured the media during a press conference that KCCA is still a strong club regardless of the current horrendous performance.
After the match however, he hinted that his boys didn't display enough responsiblity especially in the defence and despite the fact that they managed to create as much chances as possible, the conversion wasn't possible. https://x.com/KCCAFC/status/1717613259136585998?s=20
