On Tuesday, National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) announced that private cars can now move without drivers having to worry about the fine that comes with not carrying a dustbin.
The development comes, just weeks away since the same regulatory body demanded that owners of these cars must have trash cans in their cars as a must.
The backtrack on their mission was came following the Uganda Law Society's intervention questioning the legality of their directive!
In their rant, the Law Society urged that NEMA can not implement a law that doesn't exist - since there is no provision of such in the already existing environmental laws.
With this however comes a quation as Ms. Naomi Karekaho, the spokesperson of NEMA asserts that anyone caught littering or dropping any kind of waste on the streets or public places, they will be required to pay a fine!
The directive that was earlier planned to commence on 1st April - it was however halted hours before the said day with claims that more consultations were still being made!
