* North Korea ready to counter what it calls unpredecented moves from the U.S
* Pyongyang continues to grow ties with Russia.
* Tensions keep escalating between North and South Korea as two countries not ready to reconcile.
North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un has ordered his country's military, ammunitions industry and nuclear weapons sector to accelerate preparations to counter what he caller unprecedented confrontational moves by the west especially the U.S, speaking on the policy directions for the new year at a key meeting of the country's ruling party last year on Wednesday. Kim also said that Pyongyang would expand strategic cooperation with anti imperialist independent countries.
North Korea has been expanding ties with Russia as Washington continues to accuse Pyongyang of supplying military equipment to Moscow for use during the war with Ukraine while Russia provides technical support to help the North advance it's military capabilities. Kim thus set forth militant tasks for the People's Army and the ammunition industry to further increase weapon production incase of any attacks from U.S and her allies.
During the party plenum, North Korea's Kim also laid out economic goals for the New year calling it a decisive year to accomplish the country's five year development plan. The North has suffered serious food shortages in the recent decades including natural disasters and closure of borders in the covid pandemic which worsened food security but it's food production is said to have increased year-on-year due favourable weather conditions though the amount is still by far too low to address the country's chronic food shortages.
