There has been an ongoing scare linked to Corona Virus as a result of an ongoing wave of a rare flu and cough sweeping through the country.
On the contrary though, the Health Ministry's Department of Infectious Disease Control has confirmed that the two are not in any connection.
Dr Patrick Tusiime, Commissioner of Communicable Diseases prevention and control at the Ministry said that other infectious agents could be driving this wave.
“From our surveillance system, there is no indication of increased cases of Covid-19,” Dr Tusiime said, adding: “Many other viral infections can have symptoms mimicking those of Covid-19.”
Not giving figures to support his position on the matter, his counterpart - Epidemiologist Dr. Henry Kyobe who also doubles as the Covid-19 incident commander at the Ministry said that as a Ministry, they would inform the country about the Covid-19 situation later on Tuesday.
On Monday, this publication outed a story where some health experts had linked the flue and cough wave to Covid-19 because some affected persons turned out positive when tested.
This discussion around the deadly virus comes just 4 days after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared that the disease is nolonger a global emergency because of the general decline in the cases.
