Poor handling of SOPs during Christmas might delay country re-opening - Minister Kabyanga states
    • December 26, 2021 • 3 years ago

Yesterday Christians who believe in Jesus Christ across the globe celebrated the birth of the Son of God and the case was not different in the 256. Despite the outbreak of the Omicron variant, many a christians flocked churches in various places to pray and celebrate the birth of Christ.

While places of worship were warned about following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) dring service, many especially in the villages forewent these warnings and allowed in christians to the brim. Many were seen squeezed to one another in prayer and without masks.

This has prompted the state minister for Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) Hon. Godfrey Kabyanga to warn that the country might not fully re-open as it's highly awaited, thanks to 'reckless' christians who failed to observe SOPs during christmas.

According to Minister Kabyanga, the breaching of the Covid-19 guidelines might have expossed the masses to the deadly virus and it's new variant Omicron and hence re-opening the country in January will instead worsen the situation.

This has however been met by furious Ugandans who called the Minister "misinformed" if he thinks the Christmas prayers are going to increase the spread of the virus. The minister was given the example of Kampala Metropolitan as an example, where thousands of people operate on a daily and yet the SOPs are barely followed. Is the minister right about postponing the re-openning or "he is just looking for relevance?"
