Renown Events promoter Andrew Bajjo has made a tough decision and he has resigned from the leadership of the Uganda National Promoter's Federation (UNPF). According to intel, Bajjo has been serving in the federation as its Chairman in charge of research and development.
As of yesterday, July 15, Bajjo, who is also the proprietor of Bajjo Promotions Ltd handed in his resignation from the federation and the major reason he gave for his resignation was political infiltration.
It should be recalled that however that UNPF was formed through a merger of the Uganda Music Promoters and Venue Owners Network (UMPVONET) and the National Promoters Association (NPA).
In his resignation letter, Bajjo said the new federation has diverted from the principles that brought the two associations together. He claimed that the association has been infiltrated by party politics, more so from the camp of the First Son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba who is working with Events promoter Balaam Barugahara.
“UNPF was meant to be non Partisan to politics, being a neutral ground not leaning on any political interest. But after doing my research as Chairman of the Research and Development Committee, I have found out that a different agenda has been adopted, which is pushing forward the Muhoozi Project, something I highly disassociate with because of the neutrality our Federation and as promoters should keep in order to ensure progressive ideas.” He wrote.
Bajjo also came out and claimed that political forces were pumping money into the federation leadership and using this as leverage to fight musicians and promoters who are deemed to be pro-opposition.
