Two days after he was admitted at Lacor hospital in Gulu, Simon Toolit Akecha died on Monday afternoon.
Toolit, a former Omoro County Legislator and later candidate has been the Head of Policy at Opposition political party NUP.
Announcing his death, Bobiwine tweeted as seen - "With great sorrow, I've learnt of the untimely passing of our senior comrade and brother, Hon. Toolit Simon Akecha this afternoon at St. Mary's Lacor Hospital in Gulu"
A former member of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party, Toolit crossed over to NUP last year and held the Party's flag in the Omoro County by-election, following the death of MP and former speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanya.
In the election, Toolit who was the area MP in the eighth Parliament was defeated by Andrew Ojok, the late speakers son who was on the NRM ticket.
