On its enroute to Kampala on Sunday, a Toyota Land Cruiser lead car off the convoy of IGP Martin Okoth Ochora knocked dead a Boda Boda rider in Bugiri District!
The Sunday morning crash that claimed the life or a 32 year old happened at Buwumi village in Bugiri District along Iganga-Tororo Highway.
The deceased was later identified by Uganda Police as Yunusu Musoke, a resident or Mukuba Zone in Bugiri Municipality.
"Mukose Yunusu, dangerously tried to overtake a trailer and other vehicles, which put him in the opposite lane, where he collided with the lead motor vehicle of the IGP’s convoy. The rider of the motorcycle died on spot and his passenger on the motorcycle whose identity is yet to be established sustained serious injuries,” traffic police spokesperson, ASP Faridah Nampiima said in a Sunday evening statement.
In the same accident, 5 crew members on the convoy also sustained injuries. The Inspector General of Police reached out to the deceased's family and conveyed his condolences!
The incident was no different from an October 2015 one when former IGP Kale Kayihura's convoy also knocked a Boda Rider dead in Kasese.
