The pressure that comes with being a musician sometimes could be overwhelming even when people may not actually believe this. Musicians go through a tough ordeal in their pursuit for fame and success and sometimes they face seasons of depression on their musical journey.
While speaking to Galaxy FM's Mr. Henrie in the Deep Talk show, Recho Rey stated that there is a period of time when she got depressed and she almost thought she was running insane at that particular time. According to Recho Rey, she felt like everything that was happening to her was quite harsh and she always wondered why it had to happen specifically to her.
According to Recho Rey however, She became close to musician Sheebah Karungi and this is when she learned valuable lessons from the diva. Recho Rey states that during that time, she learned that the things she was going through were not exclusive to only her but many people also went through the same ordeal at a particular time in their lives.
“It was only after talking to Sheebah that I learned things that were happening to me were quite normal. Even if it never happened to everyone out there, it did happen to someone. This is when I actually realized I was not crazy. It is okay to go through a rough patch because everyone does.” Recho Rey stated.
Recho Rey however stated that there is someone that was there for her in this period of time and yet she never expected anyone to check on her during this trying time and it was none other than Prim Asiimwe. Recho recalls being judged by public as everyone stated that she was either using alcohol or using drugs.
Recho recalls that in the entire entertainment industry, it was only Prim that reached out to her, asking her whether she was doing alright and coaxing her to talk out the challenges she was facing. Recho states that she recalls doing a live on social media while in tears and this is where judgement started pouring in from the public and around that time, Prim reached out to her privately.
“In the entire entertainment industry, it was only Prim Asiimwe that reached out to me. She gave me a call. I was so surprised by this but she actually called me and offered to take me for lunch, saying we should talk about what was happening. She is the one that asked me whether I was okay and coaxed me to talk about my pain. I appreciate her for that.” Recho Rey stated.
