Bayern Leverkusen prepare to host Roma in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League Semi finals. Bayern Leverkusen won the first leg against Roma 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico with goals from Florian Wirtz and Robert Andrich.
Having already been crowned Bundesliga Champions and already find themselves in the DFB Pokal final, Xabi Alonso's side will look to book their spot in the UEFA Europa league final and maintain their unbeaten record. Bayern Leverkusen are still on course of winning a treble.
Since Daniel De Rossi replaced Jose Mourinho as the manager at Roma their has been an upturn in form, although they are now without a win in three matches. Roma are currently the sixth in Serie A after 35 games. They have won 17 times, drawn nines and lost nine times leaving them with 60 points and four points from fourth place which can guarantee them Champions League football next season.
In order for Roma to reach the final of the Europa League, they will have to do what other teams that have faced Bayern Leverkusen have failed to do this season, that is to defeat them. This will make Roma the first team to defeat Leverkusen this season.
Bayern Leverkusen and Roma have played each other five times, with Roma winning twice, Leverkusen winning once and both teams settling for a draw twice. Leverkusen's win came in their most recent encounter where they won 2-0 in the first leg of the Europa league semi final on 2nd May,2024.
Bayern Leverkusen currently don't have any injury problems and look set for the semi final with all odds looking to be in their favour. Florian Wirtz and Alejandro Grimaldo were given days off to rest while Victor Boniface and Jeremie Frimpong came off the bench in their recent match against Eintracht Frankfurt which they won 5-1.
Roma also look to be clear from injuries with Paulo Dybala who was substituted at half time against his former team Juventus expected to be fit enough to feature in the game against Leverkusen. De Rossi didn't rest his key attackers against Juventus during the 1-1 draw on Sunday, but heavily rotated his backline.
