* Russian envoy summoned to Tehran for the second time over UAE claimed islands.
* lran claims Russia violated territorial integrity yet its considered as one of its allies.
* The disputed islands include the lesser Tunb, greater Tunb and Abu Musa.
The Russian envoy was once again summoned for a second time to Tehran over the same issue after Moscow signed another joint statement with Arab nations calling for negotiations over the three disputed islands which the UAE has claimed ownership over. The Russian envoy was summoned to the Iranian Foreign Ministry to receive Tehran's strongest dismay and protest and cautioned Russia that territorial integrity of all nations was a fundamental tenet between any two countries and that the disputed lslands forever belonged to lran which renders any outside claims unacceptable.
The disputed islands are the greater Tunb, lesser Tunb and Abu Musa, located in the strait of Hormuz and have been governed by Iran since 1971 when its military took over and therefore doesn't respect the claims of the UAE over the possession of the islands. This comes after UAE has notably gained strong support from China and Russia which lran also counts as it's allies. The Chinese envoy was similarly summoned over the same issue in December 2022 with Russia also getting first summoned in July over an almost identical joint statement.
The Russian identical statement was signed during the sixth edition of the Russia-Arab Cooperation Forum in Morroco which supported peaceful solutions and initiatives in resolving the conflict through bilateral negotiations according to international law following the U.N charter. The lranian foreign ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanaan had condemned it earlier which prompted the lranian foreign minister Hossein Amirabdollahian to call out his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov who had led the delegation to Morocco with many lawmakers also having harsher words for both Moscow and Abu Dhabi.
