Arua, Uganda | The Arua Central Division has successfully disbursed 1.1 billion shillings under the Parish Development Model (PDM) to 1,279 beneficiaries. This funding is part of the 1.2 billion shillings allocated to the division, distributed across six PDM Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs) established in various wards.
Abiria Jacob, the Arua City PDM Focal Person, credited the successful disbursement to early sensitization and mobilization efforts aimed at the targeted beneficiaries. "Engaging the community early helped streamline the process and ensure that funds reached those who needed them," he noted.
Currently, the division is working to disburse an additional 150 million shillings received from the central government. Delays in disbursement were attributed to challenges in enrolling some applicants into the system, but Abiria expressed optimism about resolving these issues soon.
Funds have been distributed across all six wards within the Arua Central Division as follows:
The PDM initiative aims to enhance household incomes and promote sustainable livelihoods, and officials are committed to ensuring that the remaining funds are disbursed promptly to benefit more residents.
