National Unity Platform (NUP) members Muhammad Ssegirinya alias 'Mr. Update' and Allan Ssewanyana have today been released on bail by Masaka high court judge Victoria Nakintu Katamba.
The two Members of parliament Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana who represent Kawempe North and Makindye West constituencies respectively were earlier convicted of spearheading the 'Bijambiya' massacres in the region of greater Masaka.
Among other cases the two were accused included financing the killings, chairing the murder meetings and directly engaging in the killing of some of the residents in the area. Much as the case had loopholes whichincluded the accused being sentenced without clear evidence, they've been in Kitalya prison till today.
The high court judge allowed the two to be realesed on bail at a release fee of Ugshs. 20m hard cash. Details to the story will be shared as they come through.
