Ugandan football lovers, especially the Uganda Cranes diehards are most likely to extend their long wait before they can watch the National Team play again from the Mandela National Stadium.
The Bweyogere based stadium has for the past three and a half years been closed for any sport related activity, and has been undergoing renovation. State minister for Sports, Hon Peter Ogwang has been constantly reminding Ugandans that the stadium will be ready soon.
However, the minister's promises have seen a number of postponments, with reasons that don't seem too convincing to the fans who're following the progress critically. Yesterday through his twitter handle, minister Ogwang shared a clip while he inspected the works ongoing at the stadium and gave Ugandans another assurance.
Upon return from Kabale, I went straight to inspect the ongoing renovation works at Namboole National Stadium. I am glad to inform the country that all the necessary equipment and materials are now in place and works are going on uninterrupted. Once completed, the Stadium will be one of the best in the region with all major indoor facilities.

This update left many fans infuriated, with many seemingly tired of the continued updates that don't seem to be yielding results. Minister Ogwang had earlier promised that Uganda Cranes would host Algeria from Nambole for the AFCON 2023 qualifier which didn't happen and the match was played in Cameroon.
According to the minister, the stadium will be now ready for re-opening come November 30th/2023. Lest we forget, the same minister had promised the stadium would resume functions in June this year, later extending to August and now November.
Like one famous footballer said, we too shall be here no matter what, come November.
