In one of the interviews with the press, president Museveni expressed his grievances towards employes who are pestering him to increase their salaries, as aresult of the daily increase in commodity prices, among which Fule, food items and soap are on the high rise.
"Theseelites who are ungrateful make me wish I could return to the bush and fight. How can they statrt asking me to increase salaries because commodity items are incresing? Why can't they be more careful with their expenditures?" he said.
This comes at a point when a littre of fuel is clocking 6,000/= any time and diesel has become more expensive than petrol. Soap is still higher than 7,000/= a bar while cooking oil is almost reaching 15,000/= a litre.
The president went ahead to remind these "ungrateful" employees that his salary has never been increased from 3.6m but he manages to take care of his family. Why then would these elites be talking about salary increment?
The president made these comments a few days after he had told Ugandans to TRY CASSAVA IF THEY COULDN'T AFFORD WHEAT. These statements were met with mixed reactions, as always. With many saying the president is mocking the less priviledged Ugandans who make up the biggest population and others have already made memes out of the comments.
