Lwemiyaga County Member of Parliament Theodore Ssekikubo has come out to accuse the government of doing petty things towards the sports fraternity instead of doing long lasting programs.
The NRM member during the parliamentary sittings earlier today proposed that instead of government celebrating sports personalities after winning on international level with cars and small sums of money, it should instead award such people big positions or set-up big structures to help groom the industry.
Government is known of awarding cars, money and other gifts to sportspersons who win big at international level. However, after a couple of years, these people are completely forgotten only to find out they're in dire conditions.
The most notable one is athletee Dorcus Inzikuru who won many medals in the late 2000s and was awarded a car and a plot of land. However, she was recently seen crying out to the government over her land which apparently had no land title and it was on the verge of being taken from her.
