On Wednesday, Uganda finally declared an end to an Ebola virus outbreak that recently claimed lives of over 50 people.
The development was confirmed through a statement issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) .
The Organization's Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus hailed Uganda for its robust and comprehensive response while fighting the hemorrhagic fever.
Speaking at the event to announce the development in Mubende, where the disease was first detected in September, Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng further confirmed successful control of Ebola Outbreak in the country, thanking all stakeholders and medical teams that enabled so.
According to the World Health Organization criteria, an Outbreak of a disease officially ends when there are no new cases for 42 consecutive days - twice the virus's incubation period.
The top most effect of this outbreak away from the deaths was a lockdown that was placed in Mubende and Kassanda, the two epicenter districts of the epidemic.
