Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng has given Ugandans some of the best news they were waiting for in regards to the Covid-19 Pandemic and how the country is coping. While addressing the media, the Arua woman MP made it clear that Uganda is now fully out of the third Covid-19 wave.
“As the country continues the downward trends, fewer and fewer cases are being identified. Uganda is fully out of the ‘Third COVID-19 Wave’ as seen in the significant drop in cumulative confirmed cases, marked reduction in positivity rates and deaths.” said the minister.
She however stated that only three regions are still critical state, what is termed as 'hotspot.' These are Kampala, Moyo and Mpigi. Among the reasons why these reamin high risk areas incude the reluctany of people, with many asserting that Covid is no longer as strong as it used to be. The full re-opening of the economy has also led to the increase in the spreading of the cases, as many people interact day and night, according to the minister.
The minister also states that the many number of unvaccinated people within these three districts has impacted their continued stay in the 'red zone'.
