The government of uganda has come out to announce that it is in advanced stages of beginning to print Uganda's money here in the country. According to the sources from the government, they're not only planning to start printing money only but other important documents like passports and driving permits.
By doing this, the government is hopeful they will be able to reduce on the costs incured while printing and transporting money and other important documents. While this may seem to be a ground breaking milestone reached as a country, it also exposes the nation to future financial crises like inflation.
One of the recent examples is another distant neighbour, Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe. This country faced one of the greatest levels of inflation when they began printing thieir oen money. Commodity pricdes shot to the sky while money lost value to the extent that one had to go with a wheebarrow full of money to buy bread.
With the current commodity prices increasing every day that passes by, should Ugandans be excited aboout this move by the govenment or we shought tihgten our belts for the worst hasn't yet come?
