Vinka, one of Uganda's most popular musicians at the moment, yesterday signed a deal with Sony Music which may see her leave Swangz Avenue but the leaving is not yet confirmed.

    Vinka signs Sony Music Papers

Vinka's career doesn't have much storyline to it because she has been actively singing back to back hit songs for only about 3 years since midway 2017 after Irene Ntale had left Swangz Avenue for greene pastures.

But late last year (2018) and beginning of this year (2019) she really made her mark in the music industry internationally with the very modern music videos and good songs that Swangz Avenue enabled her to make. Locally, she was already doing well with hits such as Love Doctor, Overdose, Chips Na Ketchup and Omukwano Gwo among others.

Her rising international popularity did not go unnoticed and this is why Sony Music spotted her. But shortly after releasing the photos of signing legal documents with the Sony label, people congratulated her but there was more backlash than congratulations.

Her fans through social media kept on resounding the drums of Keko , Naava Grey and Micheal Jackson. All the three musical artistes mentioned above have one thing in common and that's that their musical careers were disorganised by Sony Music.

For the case of Micheal Jackson, although he was very popular worldwide, he said that Sony Music is a very evil company and was only targeting to make maximum profits out of him as a person and after dump him musically, potential killing off his music career back in the early 2000s.

As for Keko and Naava Grey, their stories have little divergence because the two were producing hit songs before they signed to Sony Music but soon after signing , both of their careers took very steep downward spirals as they could produce very few number of songs which weren't even hits compared to what they used to do before and today, the two musicians are just shadows of their former selves.
