After starting off on a high note with two wins in two games at the CAVB Women's African Nations Championship currently going on in Yaounde-Cameron, the Uganda Volleyball Lady Cranes were put to the sword yesterday by neighburs Kenya.
The Lady Cranes were beaten 3-0 in a match that really seemed one-sided, with the Lady Cranes failing to cope with the highly experienced Malkia Strikers. of Kenya.
Lady Cranes' stars Libero Margaret Namyalo, Catherine Ainembabazi and Eunice Amuron found it really hard to get a pass right, with the Malkia Strikers not allowing them space to hit them where it could hurt.
The nine-time champions took off at a high note in the first set, winning it 25-15, inspite of the spirited fight exhibited by the Lady Cranes. The third set sealed off Kenya's win by 26-15, leaving the Lady Cranes no chance whatsoever to fight back.
This was Uganda's first defeat of the tournament, having won their first game against Lesotho 3-0 and their second agaisnt Morocco on Thursday 3-2. Uganda will take on another neighbour, Rwanda on Saturday afternoon and are hopeful to emerge victorious.
