Yesterday, four time presidential aspirant and former president of the Forum for Democratic Change Rtd Col Dr. Kiiza Besigye alongside other opposition party representatives launched the People's Front for Transition, with the slogan 'Twerwaneko.'
While speaking to journalists, Besigye said this movement reminiscent of the previous movements he has been part of since he decided to contest against President Museveni for the highest seat in the country.
JEMA, DP, PP and other parties were present during the launch but ONE party in particular was missing, and that's the National Unity Platform (NUP). This is arguably the biggest opposition party at the moment, boasting of over 50 MPs in the 11th parliament and hundreds of councillors especially in the central region.
One would think that NUP would be at the fore front of such a movement but well, it was no where to be seen, despite the movement having Red as one of its colors and yet it's mostly known to be for NUP.
Earlier today, NUP spokesperson who's also the MP for Nakawa West, Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi stated that them as a party have no problem with the movement. He however didn't share much about why they were not part of the launch.
As usual, the 'something is fishy' Ugandans had to have their say on the movement, where many seemed sure it's another move by the 'junta' to break their stronghold but they're as hard as a rock. This is really going to be an interesting one. Twerwaneko Vs Securing your future Vs Our power.
