Recently, musician Eddy Kenzo has been using a lot of English. Well not a lot but more than regular I can say. It seems like very many of his fans as well as fellow musicians have also noticed this sudden grammatical change in him and some have even gone ahead to try and dig deeper to find out his source if fiction.
It was at the 4th weekly Jam Session organized by the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) when different musicians repeatedly complimented their president, every time he switched from the Luganda they have been used to hear him speak to the English language.
Eddy Kenzo even gave a speech where he was narrating the discussion from an earlier meeting they had with Nobert Mao and what shook many was his use of English in his speech. The artists even kept interrupting him while praising his grammar and accent.
As he kept getting complimented, he felt the urge to state his source of diction. He stated that he was learning his English from Sheebah whose company he has been keeping for quite a while now since they are doing the work of the Federation.
“It is Sheebah who is teaching me English. I have been around her for a while and I’m learning from her." Said Kenzo.
Remember that Kenzo was in the spotlight over having attained a less education. When he took on leadership of his fellow artists under the UNMF in May, he had to deal with a lot of criticism, some of which was all centered on his academic credentials. He however stated that academic documents are not important when it comes to music and art. I guess he has proved everyone wrong!
