Producer Washington has come out to clarify that there is really no bad blood between him and musician Bebe Cool.
According to Washington, he has worked for so long as a music producer in the Ugandan music industry and of course, he is one of the producers that worked on hit song projects with various Ugandan musicians. Washington states that in the music industry back then, there were only three major Artistes that were always competing neck to neck and these were Bobi Wine, Jose Chameleone and Bebe Cool who are now termed as the Big Three in the Ugandan music industry.
Washington therefore felt the urge to work on projects with other artistes because he wanted to expand the Ugandan music industry from only 3 manor musicians to many more musicians with different styles. He recalls having worked with Cindy Sanyu on songs like Ayokyayokya, with Jackie Chandiru on songs like Gold digger and with Lilian Mbabazi on her hit song dubbed Vitamin. He also recalls having worked with Juliana Kanyomozi on songs like ediba and silinayo Mulala.
“I realized that the music industry was so taken over by only three major artistes. They were the big name artiste then and there was competition only amongst them. This is when I decided to expand the territory. I got some other musicians to work with so as to increase competition. I wanted to introduce these new musicians to my Afrodongo style which is a fusion of many jams.” He stated
Washington however recalls that in he musical journey, he did so many songs with musician Bebe Cool because he worked with him for over 5 years tight before moving on to Radio and Weasel. With Bebe Cool, Washington recalls doing songs like Talimba Yesu, Lonely, I was in prison and so many more songs.
“With Bebe Cool, we did so many songs together. We worked together for 5 years, that was before I started working with Radio and Weasel. We produced songs like Lonely, I was in prison and Talimba Yesu.” Washington stated.
When asked what the cause for the separation between him and Bebe Cool was, he stated that there was nothing bad that led to their separation. According to Washington, he was never on bad terms with Bebe Cool and they went their separate ways peacefully. He stated that in the industry, when one wants to grow they need to keep working with various people in order to grow further.
“There was nothing bad between me and Bebe Cool. He is a great musician and I respect him. He just grew. He needed to work with various people. That’s what comes with growth. It’s called change.” Washington stated.
