A few weeks ago, The Inspector General of Police, Martin Ochola banned issuance of guns and pistols to all individuals and he mentioned that it was to be banned until further notice because of the increase in crime rates over the past few months.

What raised eyebrows however was seeing faded singer Angela Katatumba owning a gun in one of her music videos. This raised concern among very many Netizens after all they knew that private ownership of guns was banned already.

Angela Katatumba has however come out to defend herself, claiming that the gun she owns is legally registered and that there is no law that prohibits Ugandans from owning guns as long as it is for self defence.

Angela Katatumba mentioned that she is always fighting wars in court due to land ownership and the like so it is really necessary that she keeps with her a gun for protection from any attacks.

"People are allowed to have licensed guns. I have to get security because of the people I deal with. Mafias want to forcefully take over my father's properties," she said in an interview with local television.

Many of her fans are however still unconvinced by her explanation.
