Yesterday during a sension on Parliament floor as Artist come legislator Hillary kiyanga also known as Dr Hilderman stood on the floor acting on behalf of the performing arts to reignite the debate on copyright.
Government responded informing the public that the had set aside a whopping sum of 33 billion Ugandan shillings to build recording studios allover the country to sort out the issues artists seem to be facing. This information has got mixed reactions from the public and artists. Some argue that even if this is a good gesture by government it's not urgent and not a case for priority.
Other see this as a waste of money, un researched and a plot to rob the arts and culture sector in daylight. The question Hanging is whether the money will actually surface and secondly can government react to urgent issues like taxes levyed on artists?
