After a long period of 4 months without operating passenger services, Boda Boda riders in Kampala were finally allowed back on the roads by the President of Uganda.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni after a careful analysis of the COVID-19 situation allowed the boda riders to return to normal business on the 27th of July during his presidential address last week on the Covid situation in the country.
He passed some additional guidelines on top of allowing them to carry passengers again and that included registration of whichever passenger they transport. Boda riders were ordered to carry a pen and a book to note each passenger's names and phone contacts.
But when the real day of putting the guidelines into action came, the obedient Boda riders carried the note books and pens only to face harsh passengers who did not want their details taken.
Kampala slay queens as usual showed them fire by blatantly refusing to give them their phone numbers citing the privacy problems it comes with.
A one Jjuko Richard a boda rider staged at city square in Kampala said that on his first day, many of the female passengers refused to give him their numbers claiming that he wants to con them!
Jjuko confessed that he only managed to collect phone contacts from only two female passengers but the rest remained defiant.
