Following reports of increased omicron infections in Southwest neighbouring Rwanda, government of Paul Kagame has with immediate effect tightened the guidelines to try reduce its spread.
According renowned News reporter Athan Tashobya of Rwanda, Curfew in Rwanda has been pulled to 10 PM from Midnight amidst a rapid surge in COVID-19 infections in the country as the Omicron variant continues to grapple the world.
The Omicron variant was first reported to the World Health Organization from South Africa on 24 November 2021. On 26 November 2021, the WHO designated it as a variant of concern and named it "Omicron", the fifteenth letter in the Greek alphabet and this how serious the virus is.
Despite its seriousness Uganda has been so lucky and has only registered seven cases of Omicron five from Nigeria and two from Southafrica as Dr Ruth Aceng minister of health told reporters on 7th Dec .
