Nigerian superstar singer David Adeleke, famously known by stage name as Davido has left his fans and music enthusiasts at large in shock following the announcement regarding his possible early retirement from music.
Via his official X formerly known as Twitter account, the Afrobeat genius revealed that he is most likely to quit music after his next album.
Davido made such a heartbreaking revelation on Thursday night while reacting to the recent pictures and videos doctored against him by some blogs.
According to the Unavailable hit maker, there are some persons who desperately want him out of the music industry.
“Yall niggas really want me out the game that bad ?? Oya after next album I no do again . So una fit get peace,” he wrote on his X handle on May 9.
Important to recall is that Davido has been in the news lately due to his online feud with his colleague, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid.
Also, David came out a couple of weeks ago and stated that since he came into the industry, most of his colleagues haven’t experienced peace of mind.
On Wednesday, the singer officially dropped the music video for “Kante,” featuring the super talented singer Fave, from his “Timeless” album.
He also announced that the visuals will mark the end of the “Timeless” era, one of the standout tracks from the Grammy-nominated album released in March 2023.
The musician rose to fame with his 2012 hit ‘Dami Duro’ under HKN Music.
On February 25, 2013, Davido released the Shizzi-produced track "Gobe". It was ranked second on Premium Times' list of the Top 10 songs of 2013.
In a review for Vanguard newspaper, Charles Mgbolu said the song "exudes fun from start to finish".
Godfather Productions recorded the song's music video in South Africa.Davido announced on Twitter "One of a Kind" would be released on May 13, 2013.Shizzl also produced the song.
Tebza of Godfather Productions recorded and directed the song's music video in South Africa; it depicts a united Africa that is rich in culture and music.
In April 2016, he established DMW, his music label.
The label has served as home to music talents such as Mayorkun, Peruzzi, and Dremo among others.
Last year, Davido earned his first-ever nomination for the Grammy Awards in three categories, including ‘Best Global Album’ for his latest album, ‘Timeless’.
Others were ‘Best African Performance’ for his song ‘Unavailable’ and ‘Best Global Music Performance’ for his track ‘Feel’.
