Pope Francis presided over mass in St Peter's Square on Sunday morning as he kicked off events leading to Easter Sunday.
The mass, on Palm Sunday was his first appearance after being released from Rome's Gemelli Hospital on Saturday 1st April after a three night stay
In his homily during the celebration, Francis reflected on Christ's cry from the cross. "My God, My God have you Forsaken me? "
Just days away since marking 10 years as the Pope, the Holly father Francis was admitted to hospital on Wednesday with breathing difficulties caused by a bout of bronchitis.
The development made the Catholic faithful community to think that he may not be well enough to attend a series of rites like Palm Sunday prayers and other prayers that lead to Easter Sunday.
During the Palm Sunday mass however, the Pope remained seated while a cardinal conducted the alter activities. He is expected to keep it this way, according to the Vatican - in an arrangement to help him recover as he is nolonger able to stand for longer periods.
Palm Sunday marks the start of the Holy Week within the catholic and Christian based religions - it leads to Easter Sunday, which marks Jesus's Resurrection!
