Kampala Resident City Commissioner Hudu Hussein has come out to announce that come next year, there will be no free vaccines. Hussein has urged Ugandans to use this chance before the year ends to get vaccinated or else they risk buying vaccine next year at a cost close to over a million shillings.
"This free vaccination is ending this year. Meaning that you all have November and December to vaccinate for free. Next year you'll look for vaccines and you may not find them because even those that are giving us vaccines will know that we have achieved out target.
Our target was 4.8million Ugandans which we have now achieved and have now extended it to 7million which we're also soon achieving." said RCC Hussein. He went on to say that once the 7million target is also achieved, the available vaccines like Johnson & Johnson, Astra Zeneca will be no more and will be accessible from private hospitals and these will be exorbitantly expensive. "After this government will not be bothered.
Whoever will die of Corona as a result of not being vaccinated it will be negligence on his part because the president has talked, health workers have talked, what have we not taught you about the value of getting vaccinated?" he added. The president however promised the complete re-opening the country come January next year to allow the economy to survive, whether people have vaccinated or not. Industries like the entertainment industry have been on lock-down since March last year and the stake holders are counting days to January.

With the number of vaccinated Ugandans soon hitting 7million and the plans of the country having her ow vaccine still hanging in balance, should we be worried in case the vaccines run out? One would also ask what happened to the vaccines the government purchased, given we're still surviving on donations.
